Tip for Good Service

by joeyyp on September 1, 2011

Based on urban legend, the word “tip” was coined by a club owner. It  is the acronym for the word “To Insure Promptness” which was place on the box. A tip is given as a reward for the good service received.  From there, tipping has evolved from subcultures to another.  Thus it is essential to know the tipping etiquette especially if you are traveling to a new place.

If you have plans to stay in a place for a long time and wants to receive the best service, then it is advisable to give a large tip upfront. But if you have been receiving the service of a particular person from the start till the end of your stay, you may opt to hand the tip on your last day. Either of the two ways is accepted when it comes to tipping.

It is very inappropriate to ask for a change from the money that you have given. To avoid such awkward situation, keep the bills or loose change handy. If you do not have any small bills ready, it is much more acceptable to skip tipping rather than ask for a change.
