FTF: Bizaare Kapampangan Foods

by joeyyp on July 1, 2011

It was wifey’s birthday last Wednesday, and we had a simply celebration. The whole family was supposed to watch movie but later on decided that we do food-tripping instead.

One of the places we dined was a famous eatery in Pampanga; which is Cely’s Carinderia. This eatery was already featured in one of Channel 11 TV entitled “Tara,Let’s Eat”. The place is known for serving native Kapampangan dishes. One of which is “Betute” or stuffed fried frog. The frog has fillings which is ground meat, more often ground pork is used to stuff the frog.

Another native Kapampangan dish is the “Adobong Kamaru” . Kamaru is a small insect cooked in the famous Pinoy adobo. It tastes like adobo with a touch of crunchiness when you bite.

Wifey did finish eating the “Betute” while me and the boys ate Adobong Kamaru. It was not my first time to eat such foods but for the kids, it was definitely a dining experience they will surely remember.

I want my kids to try different kinds of food and not confine them with the usual western foods like burgers and fries. Happy Weekend everyone!
