Since the invasion of Starbucks (and all other coffee shops), you will find a lot of Pinoys frequently visiting the place. Spending Php150 for a glass of frappe can create a sense of guilt, thinking that a lot of people are starving. But anyway, life is a choice and students would save up their allowances just to get the feel of being inside Starbucks with their friends. Personally speaking, I love brewed coffee. I am willing to spend money to have a taste of my favorite Café Americano.
Have you ever wondered why a lot of Filipinos love Starbucks? I guess it is because o f the personalized service they get from the Baristas of Starbucks. For a customer, nothing beats being called by your first name to let you know that your order is ready. It actually breaks down the barrier of customer-server relationship. It becomes more personalized because you are being called on first name basis.
Pinoys love Starbucks because of the free Wi-fi. But the last time I visited Starbucks Subic they are already charging people for Wi-fi use at the rate of Php100 per hour. I guess this is one way of telling off their customers to leave the coffee shop premises once they are done sipping their venti frapp.
There may be a lot of other reasons why Pinoy love Starbucks. But for me, whether it is Starbucks or not as long as the brewed coffee tastes great, I would definitely return to that coffee shop.
